I have been very busy watching the wheels turn in this sweet girls mind for the past few days.  Charlotte takes to each one of her lessons full speed ahead! Always wanting to do more at the end of each lesson, and watching her take to her accomplishments with so much  pride, brings me overwhelming joy.  With the Kumon curriculum, her process of learning as been very easy for her to move with.  Next year, as I will be home schooling Jordan as well (actually as early as next semester), the curriculum is going to change.  We have found a great curriculum for the kids using My Fathers World.  Jordan on the other hand, will only be using this curriculum until the end of the school year.  Once third grade starts, we will most likely be using the Sonlight Curriculum.

Home School

I have started to home school Charlotte.  It is amazing how much a three year old can love to learn.  Each day she starts the day off by announcing "School Time"! We have been working on just the basics of reading, writing, math, cutting, pasting, music, and problem solving.  Oh - lets not forget ART! I am excited to share with you all the milestones in Charlotte's learning.  

Every day we spend 1130 - 130 working on her lessons.  She always ends her lessons wanting more, and proud of all she has accomplished.

Charlotte now has a great understanding of what the "Mid-Line" is!

New Woobie -

William and Charlotte received new "Woobies" from a great friend of ours.  She is a master crochet artist.  The babies just love their blankets and are sure to use them very much during the cold seasons on the mainland.  Here is a photo of William loving on his new "Woobie".

The Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend we took the kids to the pumpkin patch.  We had such a blast! There were so many things to do, and see there.  While Jordan was off running around like a chicken with his head cut off (so to speak), Charlotte enjoyed hanging around the wild animals

and like father like son, William parked it on the four wheeler, and refused to get off.  With his blanket /content look on his face, I think every person who walked by him knew that there was no way this child was going to budge.

Along with the animals and four wheelers, there was also a play house, games and face painting.

If you could not tell what each painting was of, Charlotte's was a pumpkin, and Jordan's was a bat.  William refused to get his face painted.  After all, that would have required him to get off the four wheeler.  

We were finally able to lure him away from his motor toy with some delicious treats.  We had fresh baked - not from a can, but real pumpkin pie, and snow cones.

After a wonderful refreshing treat from games, and the hot sun - it was time!

We finally settled on two large pumpkins and two smaller ones.  

After a nice long morning at the pumpkin patch, we stripped the babies down out of their dirty field clothes, washed their hands, and through them in the car.  On our way home we stopped by the local farmers market and picked out some fresh fruits and veggies (I love fresh dragon fruit) for smoothies as soon as we got home, and some very fresh Salmon for dinner.  It was a great day!  We even ended the following day with some hot cider with Cinnamon and clove, pumpkin carving, and some baked pumpkin seeds! I love the fall season!!

We have been doing a lot of counting these days.

and the last few days that we will be living in my home sweet home, Hawaii.

 

It has been a whirl wind for us these past couple of weeks.  We are still not certain of where we will be living in a little over a month, but do know that that it  most likely will not be in Hawaii.  With my sweet husband going recruiting, it has become very clear to us now how limited the jobs are for an E7 in the recruiting world.  We thought we were going to Arkansas, and found out this morning that those plans were no longer valid.  We had a little under two hours to try and pick a place to live for the next few years, and settled with Houston.  Please keep us in your prayers, we find out tomorrow sometime if we were able to snag that position up or not.  Whirl Wind!

As of right now, we are at God's mercy, and will go where ever he needs us.  Just like Chase and I were saying to one another today.

God may have a different plan for us, and where ever we end up, we will plant our roots, grow, thrive, and flourish.  We will be the masters of happiness in the world in which we will be surrounded by  - where ever that may be.

adorable little people!

This week I am helping out the Navy Chief selectees with fundraising.  I am sponsoring a week worth of photo shoots for donations.  All profits go to the CPO fund. Here are some of the adorable little people I have had the honor of photographing so far.

More is to follow...  I will most likely not be on here for about a week or so.  Expect a whole bunch of photos next week sometime!  In the meantime, if you want to keep up with my work as it comes along, check out my other blog at acadiahughes.blogspot.com.  

Home Sick

Yesterday was our sick day. Three kids, and one adult all sick at once. Everyone was feeling the nasty bug that was going around our house. It was not so pleasant.  Tea and soup for everyone, and after wards basking in long naps.  Charlotte and Jordan were feeling the most lethargic out of the three.  I barely saw either one of them walking up and around the house.  

William on the other hand was acting fine except for his runny nose, cough, and inability to keep food down.

He was a little social butterfly walking from room to room visiting his resting brother and sister.  He had to make sure he spent time with the both of them.

Today we are still feeling pretty under the weather.  Thankfully Jordan was feeling well enough to go to school.  Soon it will be time to try to get back to cleaning, and normal daily routines.  For now, lazy bones, soup and tea are the only priorities in this home.

Today we made some memo pads for the tiny hands of my children.  Charlotte has a huge love for pen and paper in hand.  Often, she will escape to a corner of the house, sit down and draw her little world on a piece of paper.  I like these little pads because it keeps all her art work together, and I don't have to worry about hundreds of pieces of paper to deal with.

With just some card stock, computer paper, and needle and thread we were able to put a few of these wonderful little books together.  Oh, and let me not forget the artistic skills of my daughter.  I just love her little people.

Some other favorite spots of hers are the stairs, and by the oven in the kitchen.

We also took a basket outside to pick some flowers to string up for the home.  I wish I had my camera during this time.  Watching one of the babies on one end, and the other baby on the other end of the basket carrying it from tree to tree was just precious.  They had wonderful team work today.  We spent about an hour and a half walking around picking flowers from different trees. We used Plumerias because they have the sweetest, most fragrant smell.

Jordan School Photos

This year I have decided not to do school photos from the school, rather do them myself.  I figure with the prices they charge nowadays for some quick shoot, one shot only photo - I can do them myself.  Cheesy back drops are not my thing, but natural light is.  With this being said, I have decided to offer school portraits to my clients as well.  With about the same price they would pay for one silly pose, I can offer them about 20 different poses.

So today, I took my sweet son outside, and took his school photos.  I am going to order them in wallets and such this week sometime for sharing with friends and family.  Here are a few of the photos I did today ...

My little boy is growing up into the most handsome little man.  I love that boy so much!

On another note - I took the sweetest photo today of Charlotte and Chase sleeping... together!
